Using x11vnc from my Vista laptop using UltraVNC works great. I can open a browser, the communications start button but NOT the program start button (three blue squares and one green grouped).
Is there any way to access the installed applications remotely ?

Found some extra options !

-xkb allows typing all keys including digit keys
-passwd [password] allows password
-http allows browser access via http://n810address:5800
-ultrafilexfer allows file transfer using UltraVNC

LOTS more on

skatebiker,

did you find the answer to your original question within that long list of x11vnc options?

Yes I found it !
Now it accepts digit keys, I can connect from a browser, enable file transfer on UltraVNC, enable a password, etc.
Which I still am not able to is taking over the buttons on top (fullscreen and zoom) and the menu and back buttons left of the screen.

I have the same problem. The browser button on the left
panel works but not the applications button. This is really
lame. (vnc works perfectly if you use KDE on your tablet
however - so I infer some there is some non-standard
weirdness in maemo's implementation of X ... ?)

short addendum: the personal launcher buttons also
don't work through vnc

I think that you must use the 'Personal Menu' *not* the personal launcher (which is outdated).
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/personal-menu

This *does* work from VNC, i.e. I use VNC started by a shell script ran from the N810:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
x11vnc -http -xkb -ultrafilexfer -forever
I have this command also included from Personal Menu so you can start it either from the N810 itself or from a ssh session from your PC.

I also have this problem. As a workaround I've been highlighting the browser button and then navigating the menus with the arrow keys.

I have the same problem: everything works fine with the exception of the third button of the menu in the main screen...unfortunately the most important!!!

Anyone has found a better way to solve this problem rather than using a workaround?

thanks

bye bye
