:-)

I think the changes of Ken or Boris having heard of Wayfinder are fairly slim.

Ok, I see. Similar problems here in Germany. Larger cities have some kind of environmental zone and you need a badge to drive threw these zones. My car is to old to get such a badge and Wayfinder doesn't know anything about this system. Here in Köln (Cologne) Wayfinder is often useless for me

As no traffic problems on M25 were shown that morning, it must be the new Map (v2.2.8.604) 's algorithm has been changed - this congestion charge feature may have been there already but not showing to me before - the thing has been around for almost 6 years!

Apart from the above and the ability to route before GPS fix, I see nothing else new in 2.2.8.604.

I'm experiencing two types of problems with the latest Firmware and Map application (2.2.8.604), which I didn’t have with OS 2007 version. I have N800 and Nokia LD-3W GPS module.

First problem is that the location on the map and, also, the current speed indicator are updated very “slowly”. The location indicator is far behind the location where I actually am. When I stop it eventually catches me up. Also, it takes few seconds for the speed indicator to show the actual speed.
The GPS module should send updates once every second and this was the update speed with the previous version of Map.

The other problem is that if I shut down the GPS receiver Map application won’t notice it. Nor will it notice when I turn it back on. To make the Map to get data from the GPS again I will have restart the Map application. The previous version always noticed when the connection to the GPS was lost. The “speaker” constantly complained about it. When GPS was turn on again it started working normally.

Anyone experienced this kind of behavior?

Hmm, it does support avoiding ferries.

Have you seen this functionality in other navigation software?

Have you tried using/importing POI?

And then what? Will it suggest to swim instead?

Google maps used to tell you to swim across the ocean if you asked for directions to go, say, from Barcelona to New York. Avoiding ferries by default

It will ignore the option (or ask you what to do) and provide the next best alternative. For example drive around, under a tunnel... which might or might not be a toll road.

In some countries, toll roads are more common than other. And there restrictions everywhere on roads.

It'd be a great feature if navigation software would include this feature, but its quite a task to implement this!

Anyone else having problems connecting to wayfinder's servers? Connection times out for the past few days when trying to purchase navigation via the licensing options menu.

Interesting, as on Thursday, my copy started crashing. After re-flashing, andd reinstallation and fresh map downloads I still have the problem, but I have now isolated it to whenever I try to connect to download traffic or poi updates.

Coincidence?

I just e-mailed wayfinder asking them if there was a problem with their servers as my speed camera and traffic info updates also crashed the map application. When I set the traffic info update from manual to 10 minutes, I couldn't even start the application without it crashing, so I had to rename my european map on the internal memory so the application would default to my West coast America map.

I'm glad I checked the forum because I was thinking it was something to do with my maps. I uninstalled the map application, reinstalled a fresh copy of the U.K map, reactivated the license, but it still crashed when doing an update.

Hopefully wayfinder will get back to me with a reason after contacting them.
