Don't ask me for install help, if you can't even figure out how to install this, I'll be blunt: why the **** are you trying to use this?

Nmap ("Network Mapper") is a free and open source (license) utility for network exploration or security auditing. Many systems and network administrators also find it useful for tasks such as network inventory, managing service upgrade schedules, and monitoring host or service uptime. Nmap uses raw IP packets in novel ways to determine what hosts are available on the network, what services (application name and version) those hosts are offering, what operating systems (and OS versions) they are running, what type of packet filters/firewalls are in use, and dozens of other characteristics. It was designed to rapidly scan large networks, but works fine against single hosts. Nmap runs on all major computer operating systems, and both console and graphical versions are available.
I've packaged it for Maemo and I've fixed the zenmap not starting problem. To use the zenmap root option, you need to have sudser (from extras) installed. It's a full featured build with even NSE enabled (although you may need to have liblua installed, not sure - should be in extras). I've done some quick optimizations to it.

Find debs in here:

WARNING: I did an intense scan on my computer and my tablet froze up for a few mins.

Good work, Qwerty12! Is there any way to get this into the Maemo Extras repository (or at least Extras-Devel)? I think the Nokia tablets are perfect for security testing, so I'd love to see more security tools easily available to users by default. Other people have Nmap available in their private repositories (though yours may be the first package I've seen with Zenmap), but it would be great to make it available in a more mainstream way so that more users can easily find and install it. It would really show off the power of these devices as pen-tester accessories. Instead I see many folks running sec tools such as Nmap on iPhone with Cydia. Bleah!

I got the power! (of being able to upload into extras that is )

I hope to sometime (and your post is one of those nice motivators ) but I need to make some changes like including a sudoers file for zenmap instead of taking the easy way out etc

Well, I finally wrote a sudoers file and performed a lot of other modifications and, as a result, it's now in Extras (with working Zenmap).

Latest 5.00 version with pretty much everything enabled (pcre, NSE etc).

Does not install 'unable to install'.

And
apt-get install nmap
also issues
Code:
pocketpenguin:~# apt-get install nmap
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
  nmap: Depends: libpcap0.8 (>= 0.9.3-1) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
apt-get -f install
issues same error.

That would be in the Diablo tools repository. Perhaps the .install file should reference that as well?

When I use the .install file, the app manager just displays 'unable to install'.

Here is the content of the install file:
Code:
[install]
catalogues = extras
package   = zenmap

[extras]
name = maemo Extras
uri = http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
components = free non-free
