Here's what I sent:

A friend complained to me that he could not register his N800 with Ovi. He then contacted Ovi Support where he was informed by someone on your staff that this is due to the internet tablets not supporting SyncML. However, this is not correct. Please read the info on the wikipedia page for SyncML Maemo supports SyncML for Calendar and Contacts at this time, using the SyncEvolution connector. I would hope that Team Ovi would recognize the value in the internet tablets and support them where possible. If Maemo is still not up to par, then I suggest forming a collaboration with the Maemo and SyncEvolution teams to quickly get the OS where it needs to be as soon as possible. Otherwise, if the SyncML connector is good enough, then enable internet tablet support now. Also note that the N800 is listed twice in your dropdown, but no N810
Ovi support's response shows they now agree with Benny:

How are you? Fine, I hope. Pertaining to your email, I regret to hear that you are facing thsi issue with compatibility between the Noia Ovi and the Internet Tablets. I must admit, you have raised a valid point and I will take this as your feedback to the Research and Development department for review and consideration. Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline, Randall. Have a great weekend.

A fun little exercise-- what does the image below suggest to you (sjgadsby-style replies cringed at but tolerated):

EDIT: I was kidding about the replies. Sorry that didn't come across.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I suppose I should reevaluate my posting style.

The SyncML reply does make sense from Nokia's point of view. The device does not officially support SyncML. Nokia support is not able to always know what 3rd party software runs well or is ported or used. You cannot demand that from them.

Ovi definately has its quirks. Its great you're contacting Nokia about this particular issue. I'm looking forward learning how N8x0 users like Ovi.

Some things work better on Maemo than on S60. For example, Nokia Messaging does not even support IMAP over SSL. Modest, and even the old mail client, do support this. The default mail client on my E71 does support it though. (???).

It suggests to me that the N900 will have a one-row keyboard.

*sigh* LOL.

I'm working on a rating system for tablet-friendly sites. That is my working version of the maximum award.

Now I understand. Would the smiley face change to a frown as the stars went away?
