My gvm.store files are fairly large (55Mb+), and it seems that this has drastically slowed launch and shutdown times for GVM. Recently, startups had run in the range of a bit over a minute, and shutdown times were about 45 seconds. The shutdown times aren't so much a problem except that if GVM or the N810 crashes during GVM shutdown, the gvm.store gets trashed.

Well, I was playing around with a Palm application that has an ARM version (it also has a non-ARM version), and I couldn't get the ARM version running. I tried adding a device ID to my startup command, and voila, all is fast now. Starting the GVM takes just a few seconds!!!

I added the '-i D050' (those are zeroes) to the startup command. D050 corresponds to the Palm TX.

So, I've gone from a minute to about 3 seconds (over 2,000% improvement). I dunno if anyone else is having this prob, but man is it a different beast now. I wonder if this also might make a bit of a difference to folks who are using the standard GVM Launcher. That is, perhaps manually setting a device in the app. config would speed the launch of an app.

The ARM application still doesn't run, but that's not a big deal at all. I'll post back in a few days to confirm that this is not some bizarro transient effect.

Blast, part of the speed difference was a fluke. I had deleted a number of files, so the store was much smaller, hence, much faster speed. On the other hand, after loading the store back up to 56Mb, it is launching faster than before. Mebbe that's another fluke, but I continue to quest for faster launch times and a larger store.
