I am surprised they went for a full public launch with so few stock available, perhaps they had production problems or maybe the production line was somewhat specialist and needed urgently for other products?

Maybe the units sold were scraped together so that they could claim a 2005 launch date and also get some more into the community and therefore get some demand for ported apps? This would mean that when production is in "full swing" there are even more apps available.

Darn. I can't believe how close I came to getting one of the first batch. Perhaps if I hadn't been so hungover on Sunday I would have ordered in time instead of leaving it until Monday morning and missing the boat.

I'll never drink again (yeah, sure

What we haven't had from Nokia is any update on fullfilling orders already in the pipeline. Apart from the 'you should expect delivery at the end of November' email I've heard nothing, has anyone else?

It could be something like mentioned in this thread..

The last thing any manufacturer wants is a huge warranty case once they have shipped 100,000 units...

Okey...correct me if i am wrong about this....
New orders will be delivered in January, but old ones will be shipped in December. Production capacity seems to be very low....

Nokia just sent me an e-mail informing me, that the delivery of my German Nokia 770 will be delayed. Instead of at the end of November as stated before, I will now get it in December.
I really hope it's due to last-minute improvements on the device and not due to Nokia's inability to roll out a new product.

At the moment it looks like the later. I'm still being told I'll get mine here in the UK 'next week'. If that really is the case, the delays are due to production problems, not improvement related.

My hunch is that the delays are software related and they want to improve things before continuing shipping. If so, hopefully the new version today meets Nokia's quality requirements to roll out the product in volume.

So, last week I phoned Nokia about my UK order for a 770 (placed 7th November, 201095) and was told "it'll be with you by the end of November, next week"

This morning I make another call to get an update.....

"we still don't have news on any stock but we think it should be with you in December, probably the next 2 weeks"

:-(

I'm now guessing that I'll get my 770 2+ months after I placed the order, I've no confidence in the December date.

This is very poor stuff from Nokia, especially as I've had no update to the original order confirmation email that told me to expect delivery in November.

I ordered my Nokia 770 on the 7th of November and today the Nokia site has updated to say that it has been shipped

Hopefully everyone else will be getting their tablets soon as well!
