I've read on this forum that DVD Catalyst 3 is a good prgm for encoding various video formats for the Nokia. They list various platforms you can purchase for and the Nokia N810 isn't one of them. Would I be correct in the assumption, that the platform to purchase for would be the Nokia 7710?

I've got the Windows version of DVD Catalyst 3. When I run the software to convert videos there are various output formats to choose from. One of them is Nokia.

You do the file convertion on a fast desktop computer and therefore buy the DVD Catalyst 3 version for that operating system. I bought the Windows XP version.

Thanks, I bought it. The free version was Win32. It was so obvious I don't know why I didn't see it. Now for setting it up.
Screen is set for 400x240,
sound is set for 5 or 6,
Video Quality bitrate (kbps) should be set for?
Sound quality should be set for?
Thanks

I converted four of my favorite DVD movies for my N800 using those settings and seems to work fine. If you discover improved settings please let us know.

Will do. But I really don't plan on watching too many movies on the NIT. However, sometimes it's difficult to describe something your interested in to your friends. Usually there is something on utube about it, so now I'll be able to record the clip and play it back for them when we get together, so they'll have a better understanding of what I'm talking about.

One last thing, I've only had this device for 2 days now, and I can't tell you how impressed I am by it. It's great, the pictures, the movies, the sound , the internet, all great. Thanks for the help.
