I did a quick search and I found a program called KBDD but I am not sure this is what I need and I do not want to gain ROOT if I don't have to.

I purchased this keyboard from Deal Extreme and it pairs up with my N810, but it will not display text when I hit keys. What are my possible problems? If it pairs with it, the drivers should be working, right?

I am without any clue as to why this behaves this way but I appreciate any help in advance. Thanks !

Well, as the listing says, it's SPP, not HID, so kbdd is exactly what you need to use it. Fanoush has kbdd here, with some instructions. (There's no version labeled for N810, so just use the N800 version.) For getting root access, see the wiki here.

(Or buy a regular HID keyboard and try to sell this one, but this stuff's not that hard once you get into it...)

I just got a stowaway shasta keyboard (the same as the IPAQ from the diagrams), installed kbdd and when I run btkbd, it gave me tons of garbage then start a constant stream of kkkkks. I deleted the device and tried again, and once the kkkks stopped, I couldn't type anything, though hitting the return key would alternate the osso term between windowed and fullscreen, and <menu>a would show a [a on the screen, same for alt or fn...Hitting asdf while holding those would give me [a [s [d and [f, but no other input was shown.

What am I missing?
