I have a COWON iAudio x5 which when connected via usb gives the ususal 'usb device not supported' message that I get with all storage I connect which subsequently work. The mp3 player screen shows 'connected' but it doesnt show up in the file manager. It is formatted fat32 and I suspect the missing link is that it wont auto mount.

I may be wrong about this but I have no other fat32 usb disks to try out. My main problem is that I am unsure of the command to mount manually. Having typed:

mount /dev/sda1 /media/usb

i get:

mount: mounting /dev/sda1 on /media/usb failed

If this is the right way to go about it then I'll give up and assume the mp3 player just isnt going to be compatible but I wanted to check all possibilities first. (plus I hate giving up)

Thanks in advance

Make sure both the mount point and device exist first. Run "ls /dev/sda1 /media/usb" in a terminal if you're unsure.

Ah, well there's a problem for a start I get:

ls: /dev/sda1: no such file or directory /media/usb:
sda1

No idea whch part this means is wrong or how to fix it though but atleast we're getting closer
