hey every1, i wanna buy a n810. I cant find it anywhere, it's out of stock almost every where. I wanna buy a new one. I love it and i wanna get it soon, for my birthday which is next week. I want to know why it's out-of-stock everywhere? I also found some stuff bout Maemo 5... does that make a difference? I mean should I buy it now or should I wait? Also, with gps, how is it without paying for it, i heard of Maemo Mapper, which sounds pretty good, but how's the nokia's gps software. Sorry if this has already been posted, but i couldnt find anything and i want an answer soon!
#1: Why is it out-of-stock?
#2: Where can I buy it NEW for less than $300?
#3: What's Maemo 5?
#4: Should I wait? Is it worth buying one rite now?
#5: How's the Nokia's GPS app on the n810?
Thanks!

In stock, however because of supply and demand the price is high until stock returns.

Maemo 5 is the next generation operating system for the tablet.

Depends on how badly you want it and your cash flow. The Maemo 5/Fremantle device (suggested name is N900) will not be out or another couple months as the software to run on it is in alpha stage I believe.

I recently ordered one, I can address -

#2: Where can I buy it NEW for less than $300?

Amazon has them for $239 and free shipping. However, when you search for "n810" don't take the first hit. It shows up at least two more times in the list for different prices.

thanks guys, I appreciate ur answers. I e-mailed a couple of companies (like Buy.com) asking em bout their "On Order Availability" or "Special Order". I hope they get back to me soon. My range is around $300, and a lot of companies are selling it for around $250, the only thing is some of them have the "Special Stock" thing which is that they will get it from somewhere and then ship to us, which takes long time, average 3-4 weeks. N900 is not coming out soon as far as i kno, it's probably gonna take a few more months, and when it comes out it's probably gonna be really expensive, so I'm not gonna wait for it. But, do u guys think we'll be able to put Maemo 5 on N810? Is Maemo 5 reallly awesome? I didn't get to read the threads, so just a quick comment would be awesome on how Maemo is. Thanks!

No. However, please see Mer. It's an effort by talented members of the community to build updated firmware for the N810 and other older tablets that won't run Maemo 5. It will bring as many of the pieces of Maemo 5 to older tablets as possible. And it's being done with the blessing of Nokia.

Is Maemo 5 reallly awesome?
I think what Nokia has shown of Maemo 5 thus far looks impressive and promising, and the hardware that comes with it should be quite powerful. I have little doubt that I'll find it awesome. Whether you will though probably depends upon your needs and expectations.

I think a member here had said that they will try to keep the price low. Someone else had asked.

thanks again for replies. i guess im gonna stick with n810, m very impatient. I have used like 3-4 different portable devices in the past 6 months, i just keep selling them and buying new ones, so if N900 comes out soon and reaches my expectations, i will buy it. But for now, I will buy N810. Now, the only thing i gotta look for is a good trustable website that can ship it to me on time. For example, Dell is a good company and they have it, but their shipping cannot be trusted, like item can arrive in 48 hours or take like few months. It even says on their website that shipping time will be like 3-5 weeks (and according to a lot of people, they're probably gonna delay it 1-2 more weeks). I'm waiting for a reply from Buy.com about their n810 stock. If their shipping is gonna take time, i will get it from Amazon.com. Thanks!

1. No idea. Noticed this on a few sites when I was shopping for mine a month and a half ago...

2. http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wire...mpaign=froogle

Sometimes it says "Open Box" and sometimes it says "clearance"...But I got mine without problems and it has behaved flawlessly.

4. I got mine after retiring my Zaurus, and I have been quite impressed. I wouldn't wait, and wonder for the thousandth time why I did...

5. I'm pretty impressed with it. Just make sure you go out to Fragos' site and get the info on it.
