I'm wondering if anyone here has done any battery or tablet load testing for multimedia applications? The two I'd like to do is to test the tablet on the stock battery by itself watching a movie and see how long it can go from full charge until the battery is dead. Then I want to add a 2500mah battery pack to it setup in a charging state while it's running the same test to see how much that improves operating time.

I ask this because I'm looking at taking my tablet and one of the Tekkeon MP1550's with me on a 25hr flight and I plan to watch some movies along the way. Thus I need to figure out usage in order to know what I can watch, for how long, and if I'll need the battery pack plugged in while it's running to keep things alive while I watch the movie. I know I saw a couple people using their n800's that way in another thread, with them watching a movie with the battery pack plugged in while on a long plane trip. So I figured to ask about the n810 to see if the same was true for it as well.

It's hard to make universal claims as the history of the battery will influence this a lot. That said, if you put the device into flight mode, recompress your multimedia to reasonable bitrates and pay attention to brightness levels, you can get well over 4 hours of viewtime with mplayer on a stock nokia battery (I get between 4 and 5 hours on my N810 depending on battery wear). Also, be sure to shut down any background tasks you might have so you don't leak too much battery while on standby (as you probably won't do a straight 25hr movie marathon )

Speaking of flight mode, I hadn't noticed anything on the tablets about any kind of flight mode. I know that you can't have wifi or bluetooth on during flight, but I wasn't sure about what else might need to be switched off.

man forget the movie and do some laps of the aisles so you don't get blood clots in your legs.

lol. Oh, I don't plan to occupy my seat for the entire flight. But there will be times I'll need to occupy myself, hence I'm considering what it'll take to do that.

The UI calls it "Offline mode", but it's OSSO_DEVMODE_FLIGHT internally.

Ah, ok. And how praytell might one set their tablet to such a mode, or return it to normal mode afterwards?

If you use Powerlaunch, Offline mode is one of the choices when you hit the power switch.

Also, the Advanced Power applet has it under 'device mode'.

Hmm, I'm not finding power launch of the advanced power applet on Maemo.org. Where do you get those?
