Yup : http://www.userfriendly.org/static/

Fully charged, freshly booted N800 with 100% Wifi signal.

No apps started, launch Tear.

Load the URL above : almost 40 seconds till the progress indicator disappears, layout finishes jumping about and page becomes scrollable normally.

Same with microb : just over 6 seconds.

This can't be delusion, now, can it ? :-)

It happens on most every site I use, including mobile versions of things like Bloglines or forums which are very sparse, text-only pages with barely a couple of 1kb-gifs on them...

I really wonder how I succeeded in painting myself into that corner :-)

Hmm. I just repeated your experiment, although not carefully.

MicroB 7 seconds
tear 23 seconds

That's the images problem.

I had 21 seconds, but yes, it is slower.

Do you have any idea yet what causes the images problem, Bundyo?

that it happened gradually over time made me look for a file that would accumulate data and survive a update of packages.

what i found was .webkitcookies. and after nuking that, webkit was blazingly fast again!!!

yes people, that means one have to log back into forums and similar...

Thanks -- good detective work! Brought the above URL down to 14 seconds from 23.

It's in /home/user/

Interesting. Needs some profiling or at least strace'ing to figure out the reasons, I guess.
