Downloads:

http://maemo.org/downloads/OS2008/

now has an app number which is about one hundred higher than yesterday.

But Downloads' Fresh section:

http://maemo.org/downloads/updated/OS2008/25/

seems to contain at least some re-releases of existing apps.

Does the number at the top of the screen actually mean the number of apps, or something else?

ya, what the heck happened there? None of the new 100 have screenshots, and they have very brief descriptions. but the green "install" buttons seem to work....

X-Fade auto imported applications from Extras repository to Downloads. Some of the applications had been already been added, but under wrong name so there is dome duplicates.

If we list duplicates here they can be removed.

At least Tabletbridge is listed twice http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/tabletsb and http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/tabletbridge

what a mess. well, here's another one: Duke Nukem 3D was already listed at http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/duke3d/; now it's at http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/duke3dsw/ as well.

EDIT: i guess the easiest way to do this--since we need (human) help in identifying duplicates--is just give the old/good/polished version's folder name, and then the new folder name, which should be deleted. like this:

keep duke3d, delete duke3dsw

There is actually two different Duke Nukems, but only one was listed in Downloads. I am not sure if both should be listed there.

cool.... i's a nice thing to have extras and the downloads closer together.

now... which one to remove? the "ugly", unrated, undocumented import from extras or the original entry with screenshot and user comment and user rating?

right, of course you'd want to delete the automatic import. but: will this script run on a regular basis now? if so, it would probably be better to somehow make the automatic import look good. (i'd still lose user comments, though)

is there any info on this? a recommendation on what to do?

Proper way is to delete the automatic import and fix the unixname from the previous import. X-Fade already fixed couple of entries which I happened to notice.

Wow, I had forgotten how many (popular) applications aren't/weren't listed at maemo.org--i.e. boxar, unrar, xchat, and privoxy. (!) What would be really nice is if they had screenshots there, too.
