When I was first reading about SyncEvolution I was under the impression that when syncevolution package is installed on the N810 then it can sync against the Evolution application running on a Linux desktop machine but reading more deeply I understand that it isn't like that and that it syncs only against SyncML servers.
What I'm trying to do is sync Evolution against Google Calendar and Contacts, then to sync my N810 against Evolution which gives me what I want. Is anybody seeing a way for this to happen?
I'm not familiar with any Google services (and if you'd ask me, which I advise you not to do, I'd tell you in detail not to use them and why not to use them and how to save the world by not using them...), but:
SyncEvolution does sync with Evolution, of course, but not directly. The SyncML-server is between these two, you install SynEvolution on both your tablet and your desktop PC and sync both with the SyncML-Server. (Typically a service anywhere on the web.)
Now if you find a way to sync Google PIM services with Evolution, too, you're done. (Seems to be possible, I just never looked at the details.) Think of it as a chain of clients with evolution in the middle, SyncML server and the tablet on the one end and Google on the other.
My experience is, though, that syncing becomes more and more error-prone the more services and devices and clients are involved. I sync everything against one SyncML server but still have problems at times because I have four clients exchanging data this way. It used to be better when it was only Evolution and the tablet.
