I want to buy this device soon, but I can only find it on ebay from United States (I live in Canada). It is about 250$CAN. Also, a refurbushed Ipod touch is cheaper than a N810. About 180$CAN

So, I wanted to know if this kind of device are good to go on the internet, read e-mail, youtube, msn, listen music and videos and finally for using it as a Skype phone.

Does it is a good idea to spend 70 more $ on this kind of device.

Also, i'm not a user of Linux. Can we install another OS in the n810? I'm not saying I will do it but I don't think there is a lot of apps working on this this kind of unit instead of ipod touch.

I also read about gps problems. Will it be fix furtherly?

Thank you for your ansers

Apple ipod T = lock when is unlocked
Nokia N XX0=flavours of the moment

for 70$ more? Iam ready to pay 100$ more for get Nokia instead Apple

of course you could probably find a better deal for the Nokia device

IN resume = Nokia : Final answer

1 years user opinion of both

You don't really have to have any knowledge of Linux to use this device. I hadn't touched Linux before I bought my tablet Unless your trying early alpha/beta software, its usually a One-Click install.

The only real problem with the GPS is a slower lock time than stand-alone devices. Installing A-GPS usually gives me a fix time of less than a minute (most of the time). If I don't get a signal immediately, its usually not a huge concern because I know most of the areas that I start driving away from.

Wow!
I'm reading about this gadjet and can we really plug a USB device such a key with only an app and a USB female-female adapter??

I'm going to a place for 5 weeks where there's only ethernet and I am reading that it is possible to make it work with the n810.

http://blogs.forum.nokia.com/blog/ka...usb-networking

Unfortunately, I got 404 error when I try to learn more by cliking on the link provided on this web page.
I can get both adapter for less than 10$ on ebay!!

Can anyone confirm all can work??

Amazing!!!!

Proper USB OTG is a better solution.

You mean a cable like this one?

What's about ethernet? Can it really work with this 10$ cable and a 10$ ebay adapter?

I'd say seriously don't buy it.

It does audio Skype, not video. And there has not been an update for Skype for it since December 2007.

And search around. You can find better prices... and options than this end of life machine. You're purchasing something that will not be commercially supported by Nokia pretty much any longer.

Ok, but what should I buy instead or where can I get better price in Canada?

On nokia canadian online store it's 399$CAN. I can buy it from ebay USA for about 220-250$CAN including shipping fees (20-40$).

You say it only does audio skype, but can it does video msn? I don't mind if I can only use it as a iphone without the stupid 60$/month to pay to AT&T.

I supposed that if Nokia will not support it any longuer, they will make another device but I'm sure it will not be cheaper as a N810.

If you have any idea to let me pay less for more, go ahead!

EDIT: when you said "will not be supported" does it for the hardware or the software?

I'd say check Buy.com - they ship to Canada, right? It's $199.99 USD there, but as an American, I'm very unsure of your ability to get it at that price.

Same goes for Amazon.com.

If eBay works for you, so be it.

Haha! I know that iPhone pain.

But it only does video SIP. Not MSN, AIM, Yahoo, GTalk, or Skype. It does do video Gizmo Project too though.

True, and right now, nobody knows the final price; but something new is indeed coming.

EDIT: when you said "will not be supported" does it for the hardware or the software?
Both. Mer will bring Fremantle (Maemo 5) to the N810, and that's Nokia and the (very able) community bringing that together. But it's not an official release.

That wasn't there at 3 PM today, after spending an hour searching in order to help lpph, the Wiki took me to the same 404 error.

The maemo.org document that Kate Alhola linked to from Forum Nokia is gone...

It was a both a little frustrating and embarassing... all at the same time.

Can you provide us all with the method you used to find the article you linked to?

maemo.org search results
