I don't use my cell phone that often, mainly to call AAA to help me start my car, or to call someone to pick me up at the airport. So a tablet with a clumsy phone would be great by me.

I would be happy with a N800-sized device with a phone and lots of cool Maemo features. And as big a screen as could be done.

Then I could leave my cell phone in my cell and happily take my tablet to walkaround with.

atilla77: I could have told you what the results of your poll would be before you even ran it. Most of us here bought a tablet at least partly for the big beautiful screen, so of course we're going to be disappointed by the tiny screen they're offering us now.

I have to believe that Nokia isn't abandoning the community they've been pouring money into lately; they have to understand that a large part of the tablet community doesn't want a smartphone. I can only hope that they're serious about the hints of multiple form factors that Nokians have been dropping since Maemo 5 was announced.

Hmm.. as an engineer, I'd have to say, no, not cool.

Modularizing the connectivity out and dropping it into either of two shells is quite workable, but modularizing across functional lines leaves you with a siamese monstrosity.

Yes, I had an educated guess, too. However, what I'm trying to discern is how many people are considering to *switch* in the next generation if they had a choice (considering we currently don't have a choice - we all have 4.1" devices that have no cellular functionality). But apparently, based on this totally unscientific poll, most the Nxxx crowd would stick with it's current choice, or has given up on their tablets long time ago In this light I sort of understand the device split. The 'other' device either needs to be a phone or a micro-netbook to draw new people in to the Maemo ecosystem as has nothing to say to existing users (see the fallout in the N900 rumor threads). It also tells me that abandoning the current form factor would also alienate a lot of current users (ok, that's not exactly rocket science to conclude after some time on the forums, but still .

If you have any EE skills, your best bet would be an integrated module, like these but the effort is simply not worth it.

In general I agree with you, but check out this picture and imagine the touch pad is also your phone. Or what if you wanted to swap-out the touch pad and use a track ball instead. The object oriented, multi-inheritance engineer would allow this.

Bigger screen is better for my uses. I already have a phone & contract. I won't pay to get out of a contract and into another one. I'd prefer a non cellular option, but if it has to have cellular, pay as you go data is a must. If I have to sign a contract, I won't buy one.

I'd love a n800 sized device with the new hardware inside. Smaller/more portable/longer life than any current netbooks, more flexible/easier to use/view than a phone.

I'd also like a stylus! No mention of an included stylus was made in the leak.

GSM is 2G, GPRS is 2.5G, EDGE is commonly considered 2.75G, but ITU includes it in the definition of 3G.
