If you're not running the cloned OS, but the default one, like I said up there, only the vfat partition should be mounted

Code:
umount /dev/mmcblk0p1
should work

Code:
umount /media/mmc1
should also do the trick

=)

Edit: scratch that. You mean re-mounting? when you restart your device to reboot the cloned OS, the vfat partition will be mounted automatically, and you'll have to take the steps I mentioned above in your cloned OS to make the swap activate automatically, so that pretty much covers all partitions that exist on your internal memory.

Is that what you meant?

Remember that you'll have to add the line to the /etc/init.d/rcS again in your cloned system. You have only activated the swap for your original Maemo so far.

To check if everything worked fine, run
Code:
free
in your terminal, and it will probably show your ram and your swap there.

To see if you're actually running the cloned OS, Settings -> Control Panel -> Memory. You should see there that the "Device" section has all the memory you delegated to it, and your internal / external memory storage (the lines below, If I remember correctly) should probably show around 450mb internal, 8gb external. =)

Penguinbait's Console-Tools works fine with all the released maemo OSes through 43-7.

I'm glad you're getting an education, but, man, are you making work for yourself! (For godsakes, I did all the work you see in my first sig post -- it took me days to create that How-To -- but I nonetheless recommend Penguinbait's tools instead.)

yES!!!!!!!!! recloning os worked . now to see if the swap partition will work in the cloned os.

EDIT* wtf.... swap partition worked without having to put the swapon command back into that file. is it because i cloned the os after i made the swap?

Anyways its all running perfectly. swap is working and cloned os booting fine. Thank you so much for all ur help
