Most of my videos won't play in the Media Player. I use mplayer instead, it works great.
I finally figured out what my problem is, well at least one of them. *lol*

Whenever you guys mentioned mplayer, I thought it was just short for media player, the default thingie that comes with the tablet.

Since I now know what you guys are talking about, this is my new favorite thread!

Hmmm ??? I find it strange, because I only use the default mediaplayer on my N810 (Diablo).

But I have installed mplayer ... so maybe the default player uses something from mplayer ?

Hey guys!

So yeah, Bundyo was awesome enough to share his presets set up with me but I think he's using the Linux version of Handbrake.

I'm using Windows XP so I tried changing the name extension to what he gave me as an .xml file, opened it up in Wordpad and tried to copy and paste it over the user_preset file, also I think I used Notepad and did something dumb with it as well.

I can't seem to get it so Windows XP will understand his file he offered.

Any chance someone can help convert his preset configuration so I am able to use it with the Windows version of Handbrake?

Thanks ahead boys!

This is where you can download it at:

I use VirtualDub with ac3 and mp3 support, so I can't help you

(Edit: I also use AVISynth and DGIndex to convert DVDs; AutoGordianKnot may be more useful for "newbies")

Addison;
May I suggest you to simply use the parameters I gave before in this topic (page 4). You can enter it manually, it's easy, and then you can make your own preset ...

Edit : this post gives the settings i used

I am a little puzzled here.

Actually the TI OMAP 2420 is very much capable of doing H264 encoding (baseline profile) for D1 resolutions (720x480 @ 30fps and 720x576 @ 25 fps) realtime.
So, H264 decoding for D1 resolutions should not be a problem at all.

I wanted to know if there any application for video decode which utilises the h/w accelerators on the 2420, or is all the work done on the ARM11, because that would be a waste of tons of resources available on the device.

PS: I do not own this device yet but will be getting one soon.

From what I understand, the OMAP 2420 is only capable of driving a 640x480 display, and so to get an 800x480 display Nokia had to use a third party display controller. So some of the hardware acceleration is lost there. The rest of it is lost because we don't have a driver for the hardware acceleration. So, effectively, we have almost no hardware acceleration for video.

This topic is still being discussed by Nokia and they have said that there is still hope for the community to get our hands on some kind of video acceleration drivers in the future. How much impact that will have on video playback performance has yet to be determined.

I find it strange, because my E90 is powered by a TI 2420, has a 800x 352 pixels secondary screen, and can perfectly play full screen full resolution (800 x 352) videos perfectly ... But ONLY with the included Realplayer ...

I think it's only a question of driver and optimization.

I think it's only a question of driver and optimization.
800x352 = 281,600 pixels
640x480 = 307,200 pixels
800x480 = 384,000 pixels

So the E90 still falls below the 640x480 threshold.
