No, you can only start new windows if Tear is already started. If someone knows how to start a first one with only dbus, please share.

There's not much thing changed in -2, but maybe I compiled it differently. I'm also detecting if its running on 770, but that's probably not it.

I'll add an option for it. Can you file me a bug to help me remember?

Next version shouldn't require the patch:

For nth time & its written on the first page: hold down the menu key and select. No kinetik scrolling while doing that.

I downgraded to 0.3.1-1 and the problem has gone away. So this is something added in the most recent version.

Is there any way to start a new Tear browser from dbus? the method given only starts a second window once the first window has been opened.
This python program will startup Tear, using DBUS, if it is not already running. Example taken from the PyMaemo examples page, I just modified it to run tear and not popup a massive button:

Unfortunately, Tear will not open the window with the URL passed but you get the Dashboard at least.

If it'd help, I can make the above a C program.
I did it anyway. :P http://pastebin.com/f4f4af486

Pressing the Menu key is not very discoverable though, is it? Maybe it should be a toolbar button and/or menu option too.
