Ok, figured I'd offer another one of my skills here, since UI design apparently isn't in much demand (I do mostly usability UI design, not actual eyecandy or graphical design) all that much. And that skill involves my writing.

I'm offering my services to anyone who might need help with proof reading, spell checking, or documentation work on their projects. If you need help, I'm your man.

This includes both new documentation, as well as updates and cleanup on existing documentation. Either PM me, or email me at me@raiden.net with your offer and I'll do what I can to help you.

I understand that the Fremantle docs will be under Maemo.org control and they will certainly need proof reading and pointers for where extra detail is needed.

At least that's my view as an ex-council member.

I would have a chat with the current council and with Dave Neary (dneary on irc) and see if they have anything for you to look at yet.

Thank you very much for the offer!

Indeed, there are a few ongoing places where proofreadiong is needed already - in the wiki, where we started the wiki action group last year: http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemowiki_Action_Group - a lot of the newer wiki content needs editorial work, and the older stuff needs editing and flagging for where it's inaccurate.

As Lardman says, we expect the official Maemo guides to be available in public for Fremantle, and at that stage, proof reading and corrections will be more than welcome.

And finally, the API documentation is all generated from the source code using gtkdoc - and contributions are welcome there too.

In general, typos and docs errors are bugs that should be fixed - we've been going through bugs.maemo.org for this, but in the absence of a publicly available repository in many cases, it's hard to know how to get the problems fixed. This is a major issue that we're working to fix.

Dave.

Well, how do I get started on the Wiki? If you want, PM or email me the directions and I'll get started on them as soon as I can.

Register with maemo.org if you've not done so already, point yourself to a page and start editing

Also see https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4405 for a specific complaint. :-)

Yeah, I can look that over, but let me get through the other two first. It appears I've got a lot of work ahead of me in the other two projects. Or I should say, a lot of reading.
