Updated English Wikipedia for Aard Dictionary is now available for download (torrent). All major and some smaller Wikipedias have also been added recently - download at http://aarddict.org.

Was the smaller, "Simple English" wikipedia updated as well?

Yes, it's big. On a bright side - it contains a lot of information (~3.4 million articles)

No, there isn't, sorry. If there is a good (not involving manual process) way to make a meaningful article selection that can be considered core - I'd like to hear about it.

The Simple English Wikipedia is a good compromise. Its small, but has a good chunk of information in it.

Simple English wiki is small and useful, but it's way too small compared to English. It would be nice to have something in the middle, but it looks like the only reliable way to do it is to have humans review and select the articles - I know http://pediapress.com and http://schools-wikipedia.org do that.

if they publish a list of good/useful articles, then it would not be too hard for aardc to skip articles not on the list. though you would end up with a dead links in articles.

what might be nice would be to put the top articles in one fille, and then create extra files, that add in the less common articles.

maybe we can get the info from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:ST
