Hi, all

I found that mplayer can not use dspmp3 to decode mp3 audio.
I have tried several files with both mplayer .27 and .29, the results are the same:

Trying to force audio codec driver family dspmp3...
Opening audio decoder: [dspmp3] MP3 audio pass-through for Nokia 770/N800 (fake decoder)
ADecoder preinit failed
ADecoder init failed
Than fall back to libmad.

I have read some threads on this forum. It is said that when the DSP is activated, the CPU must be scaled down to 330MHz. But I remember seeing somewhere that only N800 has this issue. Is N810 the same?

Anyway, can we make the dspmp3 codec work?

Yes this is true for both machines (they are pretty much identical under the skin after all) and it's not the cause of your problem as it's done by the kernel automatically.

First of all try rebooting, the DSP/DSP loader can get itself confused sometimes. The next thing to look at is where/how that failure can occur. It may be that the DSP task is unable to decode the particular mp3 files you're trying. Do you have a vanilla mp3 to test with (i.e. low bitrate, not vbr, etc.)?

AfAIK, dspmp3 isn't enabled in OS2008 due to the op mode being able to change. Check the mplayer source, pretty sure dspmp3.c got some ifndefs relating to its use under OS2008.
