any clue?

As far as the segfault goes... no clue.

As far as being able to run metalayer-crawler or other services only when I choose... I use Maemo-control-services v1.0-3.

This^ applet lets me turn services on or off from the tablets "Control Panel"

The Services applet can be used to control starting and stopping system init scripts, or change if they are started during system boot. It uses invoke-rc.d for starting and stopping services and update-rc.d for controlling runlevel options. Mark the checkbox next to a service to make it start it during system init. Tap on Running toggle button to start or stop a service. Changed service state should be reflected in the UI.

By default, the system services are hidden. Tap on the Hide system services toggle button to show system services. Warning: Stopping system services or removing them from system boot process can affect your system's stability or make your device unusable. Please know what you are doing!

One thing which caused metalayer-crawler problems in the past (IIRC) was card corruption. Perhaps, juggie, try plugging your device into a computer and running a "check drive for errors" on the cards?
how do you run tis said check, i dnt think i have a big issue with thte battery power but i feel like i could be g ettin gmore lifr from my tablet, i got it a bout a week ago and i work 12hr shifts some time and i leave it on but wifi/blue tooth off and i'll come home and i noticed after two days it said it had maybe 4hrs of power left with 5or6 days of standby

i know it sounds silly to ask but i thought it might be close to the 10 days of standby that the box says... now thats what lead me to think it maybe the mail notifier i use or somehting like this metalayer-crawler thing...

any thoughts suggestions
