I would like to purchase the n800, however main criteria is that i can use remote access software on it.
Questions are if this is supported in the current opera 8 version , and if java is supported in the installation.

Currently using https://secure.logmein.com/home.asp for remote access.

Is anyone able to test if this works and post back to this forum, greatly appreciate it.
It doesnt require a software installation, just browser based plugin probably.
Currently works on IE and Firefox (which I am using).

Thanks !

There is a mature VNC client, a couple of SSH clients and a pretty poor remote desktop client (has no built in support for right clicking, on screen keyboard). I am pretty much positive that a proprietary web page embedded client will not work, as Opera does not support Active-x or Java on the N770 or N800, currently. Java support is probably forthcoming from third parties within the next few months, but I have seen no evidence of official support from Nokia on the horizon. I would recommend switching your desktop to one of the excellent and free solutions listed above. If you need help, I consult commercially.

Good Luck.

Has anyone tried Logmein.com?

Problem with VNC and others is usually firewalls. Logmein works through firewalls that you might not have control over.

BTW, seems to work (but too slow) with 770. Is it any better (usable) with 800?

Thanks

There are several flavors of VNC including EchoVNC and UltraVNC which allow both ends of a connection to establish an outbound connection to a "Nat Helper/Relay" server somewhere on the internet, thus getting around most firewall/nat traversal issues. I believe Remote Desktop has a similar feature, starting with Vista.
