Hi all

I've had my n800 since almost two years ago and I'm very happy with it.

Currently I've OS2008 4.2008.30-2, booting from the internal SD card (8GB) following the threads on the old internet tablet talk site.

if I remember correctly this version was one of the first updates over the air without needing to flash the device, I didn't install more of the upgrades because every update required to reinstall the boot menu using install-tools.

Is the latest version faster when browsing on microb?

Besides backing up (duh), what's the best procedure for the upgrade?

Will I be able to recover my boot menu after an update?

Thanks,
Pablo

Yes. Definitely upgrade - there are still annoyances, but plenty of bugs have been fixed, and it's also just generally a good idea to have the latest updates.
As to your questions, in my subjective experience, I think microB's performance has increased somewhat, although Tear still beats it flat in most cases. I'm not sure why standard apt-get upgrades would require you to reinstall your bootmenu - at any rate, I haven't had that problem.

You should be able to just apt-get yourself an upgrade with no serious issues, however, you've had it installed quite a while; if everything is working fine (as it should be), just go ahead and upgrade, but if you've fiddled with it too much, and it's gotten a bit crufty, it may be better to start fresh.
To upgrade, just open up a terminal, get root, and use
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
(it may actually require an apt-get dist-upgrade, but I can't remember)
You can also use the application manager if you like, but if you're comfortable with the terminal, it's probably simpler to do it this way. If something happens, and you bork your bootmenu, search the forums first, and if necessary, post back here, and myself or someone else can help you with it.
Oh - one note, though. If you cloned it that long ago, be aware that the tool you used to do that is probably not the one that is currently supported. I'm not entirely sure what will happen if you upgrade to the latest Diablo release, and then try to fiddle with the bootmenu with your current cloning app.
