Hello Maemo friends,

my Nokia N810 was a gift from the USA, but I am German. Is there a way to use the American QWERTY keyboard as a German QWERTZ keyboard? Can I change a driver and get a German keyboard layout?

I type nearly blindly, so it doesn't matter what the letters on the US keyboard say. Maybe I would change them with some stickers. But I always type a Y instead of a Z because I am used to the German keyboard. That annoys me. I also miss some special German letters.

Thank you for your help.

ukeyboard lets me change the hardware layout to German which gets me QWERTZ on a tablet with a QWERTY keyboard.

Great. Thanks a lot.

Although it's weird that I have to use Czech QWERTZ to get the German äöüß. German QWERTZ doesn't offer them.

Without ukeyboard or anything else installed:

Control panel -> text input setting -> Hardware -> Keyboard layout: Deutsch.
