Hi boyz!
I want to start now a topic that It's the fruit of my curiosity:
would we consider our NIT (or MID's in general) real umpc's?
why they do not are consideret that?
I saw 2 devices (one is new and there are 2 topics about that) that have maemo on, with the same ram of the nits, and just a powerful processor and a HDD...and they are considerated umpcs...
now my sort of "critic" is not a fanboys of the tablet ( I admit...a little bit ) but..hell...is just an hdd the difference betweena Mid and a umpc????
..
...
....
and now my big curiosity, from the software's point of view, our nits (with the original maemo, not with alternative os's i mean) have all that need except for:
a hildonized complete office (I know about Gnumeric, but abiword have a evil code that moltiplicates his icons, and power point doesn't exist)
a graphic program (such pothoshop, but i really enjoied my paint )
a profesisonal software for calendar PIM and notetaking ( I don't mind about it because there are some strong application such as Yellownotes )
now, the only way is internet, with it's web browser (MicroB wich i have a little hate\love story xD ) we have FULL OFFICE (google doc's) calendary, PHOTO EDIT ( www.pixlr.com ), online flash...now if the only ussue s the software, we can consider the NITs ( and all MID ) just equal to umpcs only if online??

( i refer to the NITs lacks with the default os, without deblet, keblet, EasyDebian, because I tried all,and i find all great but too slow to be an "all day choice")

Well, for starters, UMPCs, by definition run Windows. (Because Microsoft was the one to define it.) If you're asking whether they should be considered in the same class in other ways, that's a different story, although my answer would still be no.
And as to your last section, that's the very definition of an "Internet Tablet", which is exactly what the N770/N8x0 is sold as.

mmm yea I know this story of "they must be x86's windows devices", but many devices with linux ( see q1 with ubuntu or wibrain with debian\ubuntu), but I still can't concept that a "real" pc must be windowized, such as a MID have to be an x86 devices (IBM's Conception)...that's a shame..i really love the computer world, but i cannot stand these stupid things ( that are only commercial manovres.....)
for the second part, yeah, that's why I love them, i love to leave my tablet "as clear as possible", Just use online stuff xD
