well if one can get it to do IM using purple and a custom interface, i think there are people that would be interested, especially if it can handle twitter or similar

Some more detailed specs/corrections leaked out... So, it's actually an 336MHz XBurst (MIPS32 with SIMD stuff) that claims to be able to do 25 fps CIF MP4 and potentially work with displays up to 800x600, has AC97 audio and set of kitchensink goodies (apparently there are stronger versions of the chip, up to a dual core version of it that does 720p). The chip is supposed to draw peak 150mW, and has a nice modular power management like modern ARMs, which is not bad.
