Try to dl either the panasonic SD or HP formatter and do a lowlevel formatting, the one that takes 15-20 min, not the rapid format, erasing on/off does not matter.
another option, XP>Start menu>Settings>Control panel>Administrative Tools>ComputerManagement>Disk management and delete the partition, and recreate the partiton and format as FAT32, not NTFS. It works for me most of the time, except one time, it kills the card and I have to ship it back.
