I've installled Sylpheed on my N800.

After starting it says only "loading". Nothing happens else.

The logfile says that ther ist a libxau missing.

where can I download the lib?

Or what can it do to make it run.

This seems to be a problem some people are experiencing.

I've not got an N800 so can't test it myself, but I think I remember reading other apps having the same problem: try a search on the forums?

I'd be interested in knowing what you needed to do to get it running.

I've found other applications with this Problem, (vncviewer) but no solution.

I had no problems with installing Sylpheed or VNCViewer. Chances are that I have an additional active repository and the Application Manager fetches the needed library from there.

I have all the ones listed on http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationRepositories plus FBReader and Mameo-Mapper's repositories.

is there no way to install the libxau manually?

is there any donwnload location for it?

You could try downloading and installing http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...sso1_armel.deb, but if it breaks your device, don't blame me.

It will also have to be installed using dpkg directly from xterm, as the Application Manager (except in Red Pill mode) will refuse to deal with it directly.

I managed to overcome my 'libxau0' problem while installing VNCviwer 0.5 simply by including the repository of mistral/contrib.
Maybe you could try that first?

i kind of like the mail program that comes the 770 (?and the 800?). is sylpheed better somehow?

i've fixed the problem by installing gaim from the repository. he installed the lib and sylphhed starts without problems.
