you mean /home/user/.gv-notifier ? you are including the period before g? Are you installing with dpkg -i? What's the output afterwards? Run this in terminal and post what it says:

cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/gv-notifier.list

Not found. I installed using the application manager and the dpkg. I tryed opening a few other programs last night just to see what would happen and they opened using terminal.

To save in vi (assuming you're in edit mode with the 'I' in the bottom left corner) first hit Esc, then type :wq and hit enter.

Is there a posting somewhere with the xterm commands? do I need a command to run the second line? I got the editing done (after I finally got it to load only took a reflash to work) now I just need to run the other command. I tryed just typing in and hitting enter and that didn't do it. what is the run command?

Thanks for all your help, never used xterm before but I am learning.

You need to have python 2.5 runtime installed, which should contain the python 2.5 dbus module. You'll probably need to back up your conf.xml that you just saved, uninstall GV Notifier, install python 2.5 runtime, install GV Notifier, replace conf.xml, then run the last command again.

My LED won't stop flashing now that it saw an unread message, maybe I set something up wrong?

Okey all installed finally got it all going right the very last error I got was telling me line 4 column 9. But I managed to check it out in conf.xml and that happened to be the first space in my user name apparently you can't have a number for your first character in your user name. My user name for google is 1stfalconx. When I take out the 1 it configures... of course that does me no good. LOL
Thanks for all your help anyhow Has been a good learning experience on my end. And you were right I forget to install my python2.5 runtime after my reflash.

Thanks again,

Laura
