Anybody encounter anything similar ?
Yes, there is a bug posted.

I'll check.

Ooops. Sorry, was posting from the tablet and bug rep searching was not easy nor successful. Besides, Tear has no bugs, just features, so it was logical to presume I managed to mess my install, right ?

Quick question. I like running tear in fullscreen mode, because on forum sites like this, posts fit horizontally.

However, when I go fullscreen, I lose the address bar. The only way I've found to get it back is to drop out of fullscreen mode. Is there a way to get the address bar back in fullscreen?

I'm sorry if this was already covered, but this thread is over 75 pages alone.

I recently got around to working through cloning to the flash, so I finally have space, so I am going through a personal browser shootout. As most have already figured out

microb is too slow
digia@web is not stable

Right now, it seems to be between midori and tear. I love tear's kinetic scrolling (I just switched from canola to mediabox, and I love it there too).

I'm still playing with midori, and there, i love the tabbed browsing.

You can choose wether the toolbar is shown in fullscreen both in menu and in options manager. Additionally you can show the toolbar when not shown with a long press (by default) of the middle d-pad button.

check the options manager, look for show_toolbar_fullscreen.

highlight and tap the pencil icon, then change the setting to true.

I've been using Tear for a few weeks (and I really like it very much), but i've got a lot of crashes when I press the hardware back button: it's happens after a few time, or very quickly if i'm browsing "big" pages. It doesn't happen when using the left arrow in the toolbar.

I'm using tear-0.3.5-2 but i've got this problem since 0.3.1 version.

Any idea ?

i dont think its so much crashes, but rather maemo reading it as a long press (thats supposed to close down the app currently focused).

this based on observations where a press of the "home" button while tear is chewing on a complex page may well send me to the "desktop" (thats what a long press of the home button should do).

hard to say if this is a bug with tear or a bug with maemo, failing to see the release signal of a button if the cpu is maxed out.

As it is so easy to reproduce (at least for me), i've got you the error message displayed when tear crashes when "back" is pressed :
Code:
tear[13977]: GLIB CRITICAL ** Gtk - gtk_list_store_set_valist: assertion `VALID_ITER (iter, list_store)' failed
It become more fun when more than one window are open when the problem occurs, only current window is closed. So it's not really a "crash", but current window is lost anyway.

tso: not sure about your explanation, all of this is based on event time so i don't see how my short press may become a long press. During above test, my tablet was only running tear and was not behaving slowly (no microb process i promise :-) )
