I can tell you that there's a 0 chance of Nokia announcing a Maemo based netbook in 2 weeks. So what has that to do with the other?

I know that there's a linux kernel in Android, but you're pretty much constrained to the java vm.

TenSpeed, so they are flexible enough to force themselves to use a complicated application on a tiny screen, but they aren't flexible enough to familiarize them with a somewhat different OS.

Yeah... bitter pill for me to swallow, but I'm actually the same. I'm not 100% happy with Windows despite my constant usage with it.

But then again, no OS really makes me 100% happy. OS X is the closest.

Oh don't get me wrong, windows for me is a MUST on the desktop because of the software/games I use... But that does NOT mean it satisfies me.. :P if I could use the same games on Linux I would get rid of XP in a heart beat! ***EDIT:***This also doesn't mean that linux hasn't frustrated the heck out of me in the past, I'm a linux newbie still, but I can definitely see how I have much MUCH more control over Linux than I do over WIndows. For me it's just a matter of learning to implement that control.

On a different note, maybe Nokia should have implemented a marketing strategy based on choice:

Have it with your Windows OS, or try Linux! You've heard about it it's great, it's secure, it's more stable, open source, AAAAND the laptop is $XXX cheaper than the Windows Version!

what do you think?

Because apparently people will still think it's windows... and return the device

On a side note, why don't they make them dual-boot? With the ability to easily remove one of the OS when you decide.
Anyway I'm not sure MS will be happy if Nokia advertise their OS as less secure, less stable, etc.

That's a terrible analogy. You would realize that it wasn't automatic before you even made it off the lot!

Also, don't all cars have gears?

The hardware looked great and then came the disappointment -- Windows. My company and home computers all run Ubuntu and have for years. I wouldn't touch the Booklet 3G with a ten foot pole because of Microsoft. I'm sure others will be overjoyed by the choice of Windows, just not me.

Just like a lot of people got confused with the Dell offerings - not all consumers research and make intelligent purchases.

I've had to help people out a ton that bought the "cheap" Dell laptop, only to find out that they got a discount because they bought the Linux variant and not Windows.

Leads to situations like this all too often... which is pretty damn sad imho.

C'mon, it's kinda funny, but don't forget that we're also full of piss and vinegar. See below.

Yeah, like gerbick said, I can't thank you with a button so instead I'll just do it visually. Thanks again and enjoy!
