Hello all.

I've searched around quite a bit about the issue with the n800's application manager and although I've found a fair number of people experiencing the same problem as me. I am yet to find a solution.

When I try & refresh the application list (without adding any new repositories) on my home wifi connection, it hangs on "Downloading 1k" for about 30 minutes before giving me an error "Unable to refresh list. Last refreshed list is shown".

I tried adding repositories from the wiki and running it again, but the same thing happens.

I looked in the Application Manager log and found the following:

Code:
osso-application-installer 4.42, UI version 2
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://eko.one.pl/bora/user Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/eko.one.pl_maemo_dists_bora_user_binary_armel_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com...ra/Release.gpg Temporary failure resolving 'catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com'
E:Failed to fetch http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists.bora/Release.gpg Temporary failure resolving 'eko.one.pl'
E:Failed to fetch http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists.bora/u...el/Packages.gz Temporary failure resolving 'eko.one.pl'
E:Failed to fetch http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com...el/Packages.gz Temporary failure resolving 'catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com'
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
So, I installed X Terminal, followed the instructions to gain root access and ran 'apt-get update'. Still no joy. Slightly different errors than in the Application Manager log, I don't have an open AP around at the moment so until I get home can't type it out word for word. It does seem to put (1.0.0.0) after catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com though. I'm not sure how relevant this is, does it think the IP for the site is 1.0.0.0?

Then I found a suggestion somewhere to install X Terminal (done already), follow the instructions to gain root (done already), then run:

apt-get -f update && apt-get -f upgrade

This seemed to work quite well. There were a few errors, but it did finish OK. When I went into the Application Manager & refreshed the list, it cleared itself down and failed again! So I ran the apt-get again and this time cancelled the refresh. It worked, I had a whole host of applications I could install. Unfortunately I went a bit mad & installed lots of apps, next thing you know my n800 is stuck in the reboot loop!

I re-flashed the device and got it working again. Tried refreshing the application list in the hope that it might start working. It didn't, I'm getting the same issues again, only this time, running:

apt-get -f update && apt-get -f upgrade

Doesn't work either.

I've just tried a free AP I found at lunch and although refreshing the application list still failed with the same errors, the downloading message did at least go through 1k, 5k, 7k before quickly telling me it had failed to refresh.

Sorry for such a huuuge first post, but I'm getting quite frustrated with this. I've been following countless threads on other forums and figured I'd rather keep all the things I've tried in one thread.

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

http://eko.one.pl/bora does not exsist! Where did you find it? (btw: eko.one.pl is mine)

I should add that was just an example log. I get the same thing for every repository and I've tried them all from the wiki.

I added http://eko.one.pl/maemo from the wiki. I originally tried it with mistral & just changed it to bora in case that worked instead.

Thanks for the fast reply though

Sounds like problem with connection or dns.

The connection appears to be fine in every other way. All my other machines seem to be OK too. No DNS issues on them. I tried using a fixed IP rather than DHCP, but I get the same issues.

I got the same issue on a different network too There are quite a few other people having this exact same issue. I bet there's something reeeaaaallly simple that will fix it. Just need to know what it is!

At the moment I'm having to use the browser to get to the repositories and download from there.

Greetings all!

I've just upgraded to the latest firmware (3.2007.10-7) and now getting virtually the same problem.

Wasn't hanging on the download at 1k or 2k (for ~2 mins for me) until I rebooted it although still failed to refresh list

Did you manage to find a solution Hex?

Cheers,

Faz

Deleting the maemo and maemo hackers repos completely then re-adding these appears to have resolved this!
