I've seen some threads talking about how Qt for Maemo automatically does all the hildonizing for apps. This eases porting of Qt apps to Maemo because there are fewer things for the app developer to change, and more chance that a Qt app will "just work" when recompiled for Maemo.

Is anyone working on similar support for GTK in Mer? I ask because I've tried some apps like gnumeric in Mer, which seem to run pretty well but are not hildonized. It would be great if pressing the full-screen button simply tricked gnumeric into believing its window was just resized to 800x480 or something.

That makes so much sense. I don't understand why some basic hildonization doesn't automatically happen to GTK apps, like fullscreen with the button, virtual keyboard in editable areas, and tap-and-hold for right-click.
