When I connect to a network, I rarely want my NIT to go checking for updates to every app I have installed. I'd much rather be able to manually check for updates every now and then. How can I disable the automatic checking for updates?

There was discussion of this in the "How to stop uncommanded downloads?" thread. qwerty12 located the XML that defines the scheduled check, and with some very careful editing of the file, you could (theoretically) remove the entry. As an alternative, Benson provided a less dangerous solution that reduces the frequency with which the automatic check occurs to once every 4083 years.

Thanks! Benson's solution seems perfect.
