Hey, well here's a problem.

I type air[TAB] and i get the list of possible commands that start with air.

I see airmon-ng.

But when I type airmon-ng I get
Code:
-sh:airmon-ng: not found
Wassup wit dat?

Thanks but the application manager says that the installation file for rootsh is corrupt. Where else can I find it?

Well that's not right.......

I see qwerty12 is here, he's probably typin something up that will solve all of our problems....

|||EDIT: or not......

ok, where i say to run root, just try sudo gainroot instead (thats a built-in command)... ive been using rootsh for so long, i totally forgot about it.

report back if u can end up getting airmon-ng to run.

Argh... so I type in sudo gainroot and it responds:

Enable RD mode to gain root priviledges
Then I type in apt-get install wireless-tools and it responds:

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13) permission denied)

E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

Well ya after the first error, the second was to be expected.

I wonder why Application Manager is telling you rootsh is corrupted.

Are you using the latest version of Diablo?

I'm not sure if it is the latest one. The page says:

Nokia N810 Internet Tablet
Internet Tablet OS: maemo Linux based OS2008 Version: 5.2008.43-7

Thanks again for your help! It is much appreciated!

Ya that's it.

Well either way... it doesn't appear that airmon-ng is set up properly.

So I guess there's multiple problems at play here......

So.... does anyone know why this is? I got pulled into this quest, now I need to see it through!

|||EDIT
Could it have something to do with this:

When I open a terminal, not in root, and I type air[TAB] all I see is
Code:
aircrack-ng airdecloak-ng airdecap-ng airolib-ng
....no airmon-ng.........

If rootsh won't install, I have no idea what's up with that. Try sudser or something.

Not sure, but if airmon-ng is a script, it may want bash installed (if you have file installed, as root, "file `which`/airmon-ng" (if that fails, just run file with the full path to airmon-ng) may be enough to tell you what it is). Or I may have just forgotten to mark it executable....

Not sure though, sorry, as I only ever used Kismet + aircrack-ng.

Word, sir.

Yeah, Kismet totally slipped my mind.

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=25499 Is the official Kismet thread for anybody else who's wondering... (Aren't I nice?)

I'm going to try to figure out how to aircrack on the dumps (on my own network, of course) after I gather enough IVs or whatever.

That being said, I'm probably going to end up asking anyway, so.... you know....
