Not even using handsfree...I just do not like talking on the phone beyond short , needed conversations.

Many lawyers and realtors will accept signed documents if they are faxed, but not if they are e-mailed. The N900 needs an application that allows you to receive a fax of a document, annotate it, sign it, and then send it back.
As far as I am concerned it is one of the things that I check for on a mobile phone. (Wait! No, I don't because I actually take for granted that any phone I buy does have it. I laughed a lot at the people that bought that 1st Generation iPHONE for the lack of it and one of the reasons why it didn't strive in many markets was... yes you guessed it: the lack of MMS capabilities amongst other things)
Why is this a major setback for me? Because I use it all the time: It doesn't cost me a thing to send one, it doesn't cost a thing to the person receiving it unlike sending a picture by e-mail (both parties will have to make a network access thus spending data from their plan)
This is just my opinion as a user of Nokia Devices for the last 10 years and that uses the E71 for work and pleasure.
I think that the N900 is a great device but before I was aware of this I was ready to pre-order it from Germany and now I am not so sure.
As for the fax capabilities ... I never received or sent a fax in my life. That is too 90s for me and I never saw the logic in turning something analog into digital and back again into analog only to pick up the phone and ask if it had arrived well ;-)

Every time i think of sending an mms, i remember it costs 50p or 3 sms's and find another way. The bizarre thing is with a device like this, i would be more likely to pick up an mms package and start using the service, go figure.
Heres something to chew on, im with Tmobile and the E71 can happily send and receive mms but if i receive one i get a text link to Tmobiles website to view it.

For a flat rate of €9,99 you get 1500 text messages and 500 MMS. Add €10 and you will get a 250MB data plan that includes unlimited access to MSN (meaning that MSN access doesn't get taken from the 250MB). The flat rate includes, most of the times, free calls between people that have the same plan.

LOL Great comment about faxes, I do use them occasionally for business, but never have I had the need to send one from a mobile device. But does anyone else here remember that Simon (I think it was called) touchscreen phone of the 90's that could do it?
