It is written available on Wedn, Sep 3, 10:40 AM (CET) - this is Central European Time - so 30 we are minutes before start?

Will they announce Nokia 810 3D or that was only an Engadget speculation? Because in Japan some phones are already with 3D capability with no glasses needed. I think it would be cool to have a 3D UI. The only thing is, all the applications will need to support rendering for 3D or the display can be dual, 2D and 3D?

X6, X3, N900, N97mini, XM 5800 Navigator ... there is not much connection between people using such different devices on different platforms like Symbian, S40, Maemo...
Now many people want a touch smartphone, it is easy if ONE device can have all applications, its OS can be upgraded Over-The-Air... and it is an easy choice for many, many customers to get that ONE device instead of going through a list of different devices with different specifications and different OS and apps...

So many people that want a touch smartphone will go with that ONE device HAS-IT-ALL: iPhone. No doubts about that.

Nokia needs that ONE device HAS-IT-ALL, and of course they can continue with other satellite devices.

WTF? There is no "one size fits all" because hardware is fine tuned on the software and market segment. People from different market segments have different interests in hardware and software features.

There is no one iPhone.

The (IMO) lame way of differentiation by having more GB flash increasing the price is IMO disgusting.

There is also not 100% market penetration by iPhone on touchscreen smartphones.

The iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS do not have perfect hardware or software or price or you name it. They have their disadvantages as well. In a compare thread about N900 vs iPhone you can read about that. This thread is really not meant for that discussion...

@AllNameWereOut: IMO one big brand can win all: look at Coca Cola, see how many pops and juices are around, but still the most people in the world drink Coca Cola from all other brands... it does not have to be the best, just to be known. People are monkeys that eveolved but still they copy and learn throuh copying, so (some but most) people will just imitate others and will choose the device the is the ONE. And the number one smartphone now is iPhone with over 20 millions, and fighting it with no device that is ONE-HAS-IT-ALL is not easy...

@archi: you want a device with general appeal and high market penetration like the iphone, is it? that 'stylish and simple' niche is cornered by apple. nokia is trying a different approach here 'open and empowering' with their 'mobile computer'.

I know what Nokia is doing, and they can continue having many devices with different forms and inputs, but, IMO, they also need that ONE-device-HAS-ALL. And yes, that "stylish and simple" is Apple's but simple with something like you said "open and empowering" and better camera, computer-like experience is still available for Nokia to have that one device that channels people and creates a brand in itself. They only want to rely on "Nokia" brand, but IMO that is not enough for device visibility... They need device visiblity... and in a forest (X6, 5800, 5230, N97, N900) you cannot see THAT tree.
Learn from Apple: make it simple, put an easy name on it and make it popular... the copy-monkey will want that banana.

I also believe they are right on the point that one size do not fit all. I already see people that think the N97 is meh drooling over the Mini (must be the metal back). And the same guys that told me they are passing on the Xpress 5800 can't wait to grab an X6.

If anyone want a Nokia herophone against the iPhone, then that is the N900 (for now...). And the unification will come through software.
