Seems very worthy, but I can't understand why Eldar would be so excited about it. Maybe he needs to get out more? ;-)

Yes, with Apple you're only a consumer. And N900 with its openness makes that point even more apparent.

The discussion is interesting, even more on an own topic. Thanks!

Seems the OVI API news was the biggest announcement of the day.

Would love to get more information on this and how it enriches the developer experience with regards to Maemo.

Nokia wants to create platform where over 4 billion people (China, India, Africa, etc.) will pass company 0.1 cent per one of 20 billion of their small daily transactions.

In principle it is similar to... iTunes where Apple created platform for purchasing entertainment with almost null profit per content unit but tying people to hardware platform.

This is the same but not about entertainment for fat, bored, western people but about necessities for most of Earth population.

If Nokia pull it out they will become like Microsoft on its heyday but on much greater scale.

Almost frightening.

Does anyone know what song was used in the video presentation of Maemo 5 and the video presentation of the N900?

Because the X3 costs about 110 euros unlocked, compared to 500 euros unlocked for the N900 and 250 euros unlocked for the 5800.

It's to expand the price range basically, it's meant for people who cannot afford a smartphone.

That will change as S60 gets cheaper, but at the moment S40 is still the cheapest hardware.
