Hi, folks. I've been reading about demosaicing recently, and it seems there are some very neat new algorithms being developed. It seems to me they are not used in the N800 at least, because I've taken some pictures where bad-demosaicing effects clearly show up.

Is there anybody else here who would like to try implementing some of these advanced image processing filters on the tablets? I've been playing lately with creating images from many exposures using a median filter... A better demosaicing filter would be great for that, and I also need something else to remove what seems to be a systematic noise in my N800 camera. (This is in another thread.)

There is a thread where some people people talked about demosaicing and sensor size... I made a blog post the other day comparing the N900 to the iphone 3gs, and asked people to point me what would be the advantages of the iphone. Someone said that the iPhone could have a smaller resolution, but the CCD would be better. I think that is a really desperate search for saving the bitten-apple, claiming that before actually checking the specs of the optics and sensor size. That shows this is an area where the battle could heat up!

If you are amongst those NIT users who have fun finding reasons to claim they are better then iThings, I would like to invite you to this project. Imagine we could say "yeah, this iPhone picture looks great, but my tablet uses straght-edge demosaicing algorithms and non-linear anisotropic diffusion filters". That is pretty cool! Who would like to help?

(That supposing the iStuff doesn't have apps that already do that right now...)
