You must have been somewhere nice, the attractive stereotype is mostly that. Most people here are gross (what, with the obesity and the crystal meth, and whatnot )
oh, that... you know, when i wrote it, it was honestly meant as a neutral completion of this target group posting i replied to. more than 50% of these devices are sold in north america, so why not say it?

only when i read what i had written i noticed that in context, it comes across differently. i'm a jerk for hitting "submit", anyway

oh, and i was almost everywhere... michigan to florida, arkansas to south dakota, nyc, san francisco... loved it.

Can you really blame this all on America media. For instance what channel would really turn down a cell phone ad for the right price. I doubt at all Nokia is really trying to put ads here for the simple fact what phones do they really have to show off thats subsidized and popular here. The iphone point blank is half hype/ half show off, i swear when i sit on the train and the way people hold there iphone while swiping through stuff is hilarious but the reason behind the hype is apple marketing is amazing. It doesn't take much to take down the iphone i mean look at the Zune HD people are going crazy over this device now incorporate The Zune HD specs to a phone and great marketing the iphone will be old news trust.

two things:

1. twitter and facebook are one to many media. post there ones and every follower/"friend" will see it.

2. i have the distinct impression that online tech news is very USA centric, made worse by local blog/news pages that basically run the USA news thru google translate and post it as independent news...

tv, online, same diff these days...

btw, i sometimes wonder how many media houses rock apple products internally.

i know that quite a few media related courses more or less require apple products, and the first time i bumped into a mac it was used by a local newspaper to drive a scanner...

Zune HD is from an North American company which just solidifies my point...

Recently I was in Japan and China and the phones they use there are just fantastic compared to the slow turtles we get from here... And what do we hear about this fantastic thingies?! Nothing!! If one reads just North American news it seems that the world is dominated by iPhonies and Crackberries... That is how the media over there was, is and will always be.

Heck, even motorola showing the cliq made to the headlines in NY Times...

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/0...uncomfortable/

But try searching for the N900. Just a shared story with all the announcements of NW.

Now try cnet, engadget (yes, cos people still go there for their gadget news), gizmodo. The amount of info from North American companies compared to the other ones is just laughable.

I guess its all part of that "buy american"/"freedom fries"/etc way of thinking... or, I am paranoid!!!!!!!

dont know, but i did a somewhat unscientific measurement by counting the number of iphone entries on the techmeme.com river page vs entries about N900, and came up with something like 20 to 1...

and that was maybe 2-3 days after nokia world.

still, this included news sites from maybe 2 days before nokia world as well...
