I think they also have a 30 days price protection guarantee that takes into effect from the day your item is shipped. It's not automatic afaik, you'll have to check the price listing and file the request manually if this happens.
I think there's a site that offers to watch your item and emails you if this ever happen. I'll have to look it up, cause I don't remember it off hand.

Actually it is automatic, I also mentioned that in my original reply. They did it with my LED tv I purchased.

I contacted Amazon for the official word on availability and price match. Here is the response:
ME:
Regarding my order for the Nokia N900, Can you please give me some idea as to a ship date? I've heard October 12 and was hoping you could confirm.
AMAZON:
"Nokia N900 Mobile Computer Unlocked Cell Phone" hasn't been released yet and the expected release date is not known. We'll make sure to update our website listing when we know more.

Additionally, since i've place my pre-order, the price has been adjusted down somewhat. Will Amazon be adjusting my price to reflect the lowest price since my pre-order?
AMAZON:
Regarding the price of the item. Whenever you pre-order any item sold by Amazon.com, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the release date.
However, if your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered before release date, we will automatically refund the difference between the price you were charged and the lowest price between shipment and release date.
