I'd really like a clean, elegant app that will work with windows. Are there any developers who would like to help me out? I know there is another guy working on a Linux one, hopefully he gets back to me as well.

I'd like to design the UI and contribute some ideas to required functionality and such.

I believe a PC Suite app would be great for:

1. Tethering
2. Writing/Sending/Reading SMS on the PC
3. Transfering/Syncing Video + Photos + MUSIC
4. Setting Music album art
5. Transferring Applications / Games

Anybody interested? I would really like to get this going!

Thank you

Does QTE sound/look anything like what you had in mind ? It covers 3/4/5, but not really 1 and 2...

you've seen this, yes? "a pc-suite like application for maemo", linux application, mainly for backup at this point. seems somewhat related to what you're proposing.

That's exactly what I was referencing in the first post, but I need windows support. And, I'd like to make it look cooler.

Both projects are PyQt so they should work on windows, too (barring calls of external stuff that might be linux specific). If you're referring to the looks of QTE, well, yes, but considering these are skinnable widgets, a little css effort can go a long way.

Even the TabletSuite app is quite dated looks wise. Would Nokia Ovi Suite work with the n900?

Keep in mind that Qt will clone the looks/widgets of the operating system/desktop environment you're running on, so what you see on the screenshots/video is just an example.

Long time ago I was working for Gammu/Gammu+ projects (backup/restore and other PcSuite functionalities). Unfortunately, because of total lack of help from Nokia/other people and developers side projects in fact were less or more suspended from some moment. I think, it could be possible to add plugins for them or even make ports working exactly on N900 (hehe, sending EMS, decoding SMS in "non-Nokia" formats and so on ). But for real development there is required earlier or later real device and I hope, that it will be available up to the end of year, maybe a little later (ehhh, availability in shops + money )...

Right now PC suite does everything in your list, and eventually Ovi suite will as well. I'd be extremely surprised if Nokia didn't support the N900 in both. Depending on your point of view, this will either be their flagship device or a solid first step into their new smartphone platform. For it not to work with their existing software would be odd indeed.
