I would like a removable screen protector. I am bad about scratching my phones and I really want to keep the screen in good shape.

Also a little about me, I am a long time Linux user (since 1999). Originally a programmer C, ASM, Pascal, Basic. Currently a server admin / mysql database guy. My current phone is an E90. The terminal will likely be my most used app on my N900.

Get a pack of Palm universal screen protectors, you probably will use 1 per year, but get something like that. Cut it to fit, and its great. Mine is going on two years of scratch saving. I'm getting ready to change it.

I could be wrong, but isn't it more convenient to change the touch frame when it's in a bad shape? For example for Nokia 5800 changing the touch frame costs about €20 (if I remember the price correctly) and they can do it fairly fast too.

Here is the link for the spare part for 5800 (they don't yet have it for N900):

how about carrying case CP-321?

if one stops to think a moment about the fact that where will the screen be scratched, this should be the solution. atleast with my e71 the stratches started to appear after the almost similar carrying case included was rendered useless (the red velvet started wearing off and started gluing the phone with its glue)

i bet only few of us will do kinetic scrolls when display is covered in sand but a lot of us will throw the device into pocket that could have metal pins and other stuff inside (jeans...)

Just out of the curiosity, I went and grabbed an unused iPhone 3G anti-glare screen protector and I think it'll work just fine.

At first I thought the circle at the bottom would be a problem but it's not, the circle button has it's own little piece which you can easily leave in circle thus covering the entire face. Since the iPhone is 3.5"--same as the N900 I don't see any problems ( will have to play around with it once I get it ) plus for people who have the iPhone will agree with me that the anti-glare protector is nice in covering up fingerprints.

Just my 2 cent....

From what I could figure, the screen size of iphone is slighly wider than N900, but thats just me.
I would suggest you wait a bit more as there will be tailored screen protectors in the market once the phone is out, this year or next !
3.5 inch is the diagonal , but screens can be more sqaurer or more rectangular which changes the length and width. Like N97 also has a diagonal size of 3.5 inch but its certainly smaller than the N900 screen which has the same diagonal size.

About the iphone protector, its recommended you use only one to protect your screen of the N900, you dont want to cover the vga camera or the proximity sensor
