Hi,

I've read some instructions in this forum but was'nt able to import a calendar or addressbook into GPE.

I've tried:
from kaddressbook ical and vcal (no success)
from google-calendar the standard ics export
from korganizer vcard (single file) v.2.1 and v3.0

Anybody was successfull in those import?

I managed to get my Palm contacts across via Kaddressbook (VCard 3.0). However I had to delete the photographs before it worked. I did this manually on the Vcard stack with a text editor, I don't know if it could be done via KAddressBook or even if that field was accessible there.

I also lost some of the fields (just the manually defined ones I think).

Still working on calendar. I'm hoping someone will make a VERY simple converter for me at some point I got as far as getting the opensync stuff installed on Debian with the GPE and Palm plugins, but no idea what to do with it LOL. When I am a Linux ninja I will try again.

Are you using KPE contacts on a N770, I tried to install them manually on a new N800 and the apps mgr said the librarys were incomaptible and would not install. If you hae a PALM have you tried to Bluetooth the contacts across from the Palm Contact "send via bluetooth" function??

I had no problem installing and running GPE from the a.m. repositories, the problem is in calendar and contacts import from (respectively) ics and vcf files.

If I cannot import contacts and calendars from kaddressbook/korganizer or google-calendar, I don't think GPE will be useful for me.

I've read on this forum that someone was successfull in doing such an import, but I wasn't.

Maybe a short shell/perl script that convert from ics/vcf to more suitable file formats could be helpful. Unfortunately, GPE errors mesages are not very informative about what went wrong.
