Yeah, my N800 battery (2.6 years old) is now definitely showing its age: It drops a bar after just a little more than a day (24 hours) now, so I charge often.

Problem is, how to get a new battery. The ones in the local Nokia shop I've already decided against. The shop has no idea when their batteries were produced, there is no date of production printed on the package, and they've been hanging on a stand in a hot shop for ages. And they charge an arm and a leg. That's always the problem with these kind of batteries. Every replacement battery I've bought over the years has always been useless, pre-aged already.

I tell you what is sad: to know my N810 is obsolete and not being able to shell out €600 for the replacement! I have great hopes for Mer, but before it comes out with all the bells and whistles (i.e. a fully working OS) every time I look at it I am sad it cannot really show its muscle against the N900... Oh well. Playing around with Mer is fun, i guess...

In truth I am sad about losing my pocket device after such a good run, but I'm going to have it for a while after the n900 comes out.(mainly cause I can't whip up $600) But I'm sure when people get their hands on the n900 the craze will take off and I'll want one more than ever, and I won't be too sad to part with my n810...

But till then, off to the races with mer.

I already pre-ordered the n900 and am dying to play with it. But today it suddenly struck me that i am going to lose my close friend who had stayed all along with me 24x7 since the last 2 years. I felt sad....
Ah... Perhaps I'm reading some guilt in this post.

How can you ever look the N810 in the eye again (or the screen as it were) after you take the N900 to bed with you for the first time?

Freud may have pointed out how you subconsciously used an upper case N when describing the N810 and a lower case one for your intended "new" bedmate.

H'mmmm.

And sometimes... a phone is just a phone.

I intend to get the n900 (if budget permits) but I wont be giving up my marvelous N810 anytime soon - it has features the n900 will never have - 4.1 inch screen, 4 row keyboard, gorgeous kickstand, USB hosting and much better battery life - bigger capacity mAh and no Phone/3G signal processing to contend with.

The N810 remains a classic ! full stop.
