the same thing happened to me.
it is usually from an alarm clock that is set.
so, go into your clock and check if you have any alarm clocks set, and if you do, delete them.
also, there is some weird error where a "hidden" alarm clock is set, and this could automatically turn on your 770. to fix this, just go into your clock, and set an alarm clock for any random time, then delete that alarm clock. this should fix it.
it worked for me on my n800...

And people dare to say Nokia's power management sucks.

Honestly, does anyone know of another computer that remembers an alarm after the computer's been turned off?

Actually, the more I think of this, the scarier it gets...

Interesting issue.
I didn't realize yet it had an alarm for the clock.

After Installing the VPN client, and the FMTuner Applet, I noticed the N800 rebooted itself approximately every hour. (Could have been random)
I removed the FMTuner applet from, the desktop and it seemed to reboot less frequently. after a couple of days of rebooting every once in a while, I uninstalled the FMTuner, and the VPNClient. The VPN client did not fully uninstall, probably because I selected a nondefault location for the start up icon.
Anyway I am now seeing reboots approx once a day. I verified there are no scheduled alarms. (At least it doesn't show any.)

Does anyone know where I can turn on or check a system log for application errors? I have root access and XTerm with DropBear ssh.

that rebooting problem has nothing to do with this thread.
the advice I gave is from this thread:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=4088
i followed the advice there and my n800 has not turned itself on since...

I never thought to try this but you're absolutely right.

When the alarm goes off, it pops up a window with snooze/close options. I tapped 'close', then it asked if I wanted to shut off again, or boot. Really slick if you ask me.

Back to the thread question, I had some reboot problems like this intermittently since upgrading to the latest OS2006. It was never consistent, and has not happened in a week or more.

I don't mess around with the alarm at all, although knowing what Karel just tipped me off to, I think I will.

After years(?) of successful functioning of my 770, it too has recently started an automatic "midnight" boot (even inside the case). The only thing I've done to it recently is a belated flashing of 49.2. I've looked into the possibility described earlier in this thread that there is some clock malfunction, but I've never used the clock and have checked to make certain that no alarm has been inadventently set. What a mystery, and annoyance. Now I can't leave my 770 unattended for several days while I play with my new N800. Anyone have any further ideas involving this new 770 problem?
