My N800 seems stuck in the screen and keys locked condition. Pressing the power key causes the screen to come on and display the "Now press []" message. Pressing the center of the dpad does not unlock it though.
The center of the dpad seems "clicky", so I suspect a sw problem.
Connecting to my PC via the usb cable works as normally.
Plugging in the AC adapter has no effect.
I am still running the system software that came with the device and have installed a few common apps. FBreader is active.
To test the button, try this:
press power button
press another button, eg. Home
you should see "press the following..."
wait for the above to vanish
press center of the dpad
if you see "press the following..." again it is not a hardware problem.
If nothing happens it could be hardware or software.
If you have ssh installed you could gracefully shutdown your n800 remotely.
If not, you could force it to shut down by unplugging the ac and removing the battery. There is a slight chance that you could corrupt a file, but that happened to my 770 only once (that I know of) in over a dozen hard shutdowns.

Any suggestions appreciated.
