The devices are on loan. Can't be sold. (would you sell something loaned to you?) Contracts were signed.

If Nokia marketing gave the devices to them with a specific agenda for feedback, they will probably get to keep the phones- once the device launches. Marketing and R&D expense.

Then again, that usually does not happen unless the device is a bit longer before release. Sorry to get your hopes up
